BRIEF INTRODUCTION
Sunrise is the seventh original Chinese opera commissioned by NCPA. The classic drama Sunrise occupies a leading position with distinctive epochal feature and breadth and depth of the historical contents among all works created by Chinese master dramatist Cao Yu. Through constant interpretation of several versions for decades, Sunrise enjoys profound impact. Year of 2015 marks the 80th anniversary of the creation and publication of Sunrise. NCPA invites the renowned Chinese composer Jin Xiang, screenwriter Wan Fang, director Li Liuyi and other members of first-class creative team to make efforts to stage the first opera version, and pay tribute to the master and classic work. With profound understanding and unique emotion for this work, Cao Yu’s daughter Wan Fang gains deeply insights into the tragic emotion of the original work, and makes the nuanced depiction of characters and social outlook. Jin Xiang's music features smooth and concise style, clear-cut and clean clues, rich sense of color and distinctive style of the times. In the creation process, he gives particular emphasis on strengthening the dramatic conflict of music, and precisely shapes the characters' musical images.
