BRIEF INTRODUCTION

David Greilsammer
Known for his eclectic and fascinating programs, conductor and pianist David Greilsammer is recognized as one of today’s most audacious classical artists. The New York Times recently selected his recital 'Scarlatti:Cage:Sonatas' as one of the ten most important musical events of the year. Previously, The New York Times had awarded two of David Greilsammer's albums, 'Baroque Conversations' and 'Mozart-In-Between', among the best recordings of the year.

Born in Jerusalem, David Greilsammer studied at The Juilliard School. After making his New York Lincoln Center debut, he went on to becoming 'Young Musician of the Year' at the 2008 French Music Awards.

Known as a unique interpreter of both baroque and contemporary music, David Greilsammer is also celebrated for his Mozart performances. In 2008, he performed in Paris all of Mozart's piano Sonatas in a one-day 'marathon' and in recent years, he has recorded various albums devoted the composer, all praised by the press. In the 2012-2013 season, he played and conducted the complete cycle of Mozart's twenty-seven piano concertos in Geneva.

Richard Galliano Accordion
In the past, there never seemed to have been one great artist associated with the accordion, an instrument that, because of its connotations, seemed as far removed from swing as it is possible to be. Then along came Richard Galliano, fired by an unrivalled determination to share his conviction that the accordion was worthy have a place at the heart of jazz alongside the saxophone and trumpet. Inspired by the admiration he felt for his friend Astor Piazzolla, creator of the Tango Nuevo, Galliano succeeded not just in doing this, but with his 'new musette' style managed to breathe new life into a thoroughly French tradition that seemed to have got stuck.

Born on 12 December 1950 in Cannes, in France, Richard Galliano started playing the instrument at the age of four. It was the discovery of the music of Clifford Brown that introduced him to jazz, at the age of 14. In 1973 Galliano moved up to Paris where he impressed Claude Nougaro. He spent three years as arranger and conductor as well as composer in a group where he found himself playing alongside real jazz musicians. Then he met Astor Piazzolla in 1983 while working on incidental music for the Comédie Francaise.
