Leonard Slatkin
Leonard Slatkin is Music Director of both the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, and the Orchestre National de Lyon, France. During the 2012-13 season he led the Detroit Symphony in highly acclaimed concerts at Carnegie Hall including one concert in which all four Charles Ives Symphonies were presented in one evening; led the Orchestre National de Lyon in a triumphant Paris concert of Ravel's "L'heure espangole" and "L'Enfant et les Sortileges" and celebrated Rachmaninoff's 140th anniversary with Denis Matsuev and the State Symphony of Russia in Moscow.

During the 2013-14 season, Maestro Slatkin will conduct at Penderecki’s 80th birthday in Warsaw, record with Anne-Akiko Myers and the London Symphony, and appear with the Chicago Symphony, the Pittsburgh Symphony, St Louis Symphony, and with the Boston Symphony at Tanglewood.

The Orchestre National de Lyon
The Orchestre National de Lyon (ONL) is a French orchestra based in Lyon. Its current primary concert venue is l'Auditorium de Lyon. The orchestra operates with the help of a subsidy from the French Ministry of Culture and from the Rhone-Alpes regional council. The current general director of the orchestra is Laurent Langlois.

The orchestra's precursor was the Societe des Grands Concerts de Lyon, which Georges Martin Witkowski established in 1905. Witkowski directed the society's concerts from 1905 to 1943. His son, Jean Witkowski, succeeded him from 1943 to 1953.

In 1983, the orchestra was renamed l'Orchestre National de Lyon, its current name. Baudo concluded his tenure with the ONL in 1986. Emmanuel Krivine then served as music director from 1987 to 2000. In May 2010, the ONL announced the appointment of Leonard Slatkin as its sixth music director, effective with the 2011-2012 season.
