Features: China National Peking Opera Company will be performing the classic shows Adventures of the Monkey King: Mischief in Heaven at Drama theatre of NCPA on December 31, 2023.

BRIEF INTRODUCTION

Mischief in Heaven is based on Journey to the West. When Sun Wukong went to the Dragon Palace to borrow weapons, the Dragon King despised him and cheated him to move the magic iron. Unexpectedly, Sun Wukong is vast, the sea god needle iron into the hand of the weapon —— golden staff. The Dragon King regretted and went to the heavenly palace to beg the Jade Emperor to capture Sun Wukong. Li Changgeng offered advice to deceive the Sun Wukong to the royal horse to guard the horse. Sun Wukong saw through the secret, made a scene of the imperial horse prison, returned to the Flower and fruit Mountain, erected the banner of "The Great Sage of Heaven". Li Changgeng went to the flower and fruit mountain again, pretending to invite him to the flat peach banquet. When Wukong came to the palace, he learned from the fairy that the peach banquet was not invited. He was angry and made trouble of the Yao Pool and ate the golden Dan. The Jade Emperor sent Erlang God to capture Sun Wukong, because he ate gold Dan, has become a steel bone, knives and guns can not hurt the body. The Jade Emperor sent him to the eight gossip furnace of the old Lord and burned him with fire. As a result, the Monkey King still jumped out of the oven alive. Tiangong concentrated forces, under the leadership of Li Tianwang, and Sun Wukong battle, and finally was badly defeated by the witty and brave Sun Wukong. Sun Wukong is surrounded by all the little monkeys cheering, singing triumphant songs, victory back to the mountain.

China National Peking Opera Company
The China National Peking Opera Company is a national art theatre directly under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China, established in January, 1955 with Peking Opera art master MEI Lanfang as the first president.
