BRIEF INTRODUCTION
Production: National Centre for the Performing Arts, Shanghai Dramatic Arts Center
Based on Bi Feiyu's novel Massage
Playwright: Yu Rongjun
Director: Guo Xiaonan
Massage is revised from the novel of the same name by Bi Feiyu, a winning work awarded with Mao Dun Literature Award, describing the unique life of a group of blind masseurs.
The blind people in the massage shop are pure, kind just like normal people. They have dreams, friendships, love, as well as human satin and defect. The work does not enormously exaggerate the inconvenient life of the blind, though all stories occur in the dark, the darkness is not expressed; instead the work depicts a commonly existing society with people that have lost eyesight, where everyone has causes for happiness and suffer, and they care nothing more than dignity facing choices.
