BRIEF INTRODUCTION

The Israel Sinfonietta Beer Sheva was founded in 1973 by new immigrant musicians. Since the beginning, Sinfonietta has devotedly served the music lovers of Beer Sheva and the Negev. For nearly four decades it has been developing the region's artistic and cultural base, making orchestral music accessible to every resident of the Negev. Its various concert series take place in Beer Sheva and throughout the country.

Over the years, hundreds of the world's leading musicians have performed with the Sinfonietta, including Leonard Bernstein, Isaac Stern, Pinchas Zuckerman, Jean-Pierre Rampal, Shlomo Mintz, Sheila Armstrong, Claude Frank, Felicity Palmer, Paul Tortelier, Gary Karr, Maurice Bourge, Bella Davidovich, Menachem Presler, Asher Fisch, Christian Lindberg, Guy Braunstein, Gilad Karni, Itamar Golan, Sophie Solomon and Mariel Nordman.

Today the Israel Sinfonietta Beer Sheva is widely regarded as a model of the multifaceted pioneering spirit that characterizes the State of Israel. Its members, who are both native Israeli and immigrant musicians, work together harmoniously to provide a unique, outstanding orchestral experience for its audiences everywhere.
