BRIEF INTRODUCTION

The BBC Proms is a grand event of the UK cultural life in every summer, which not only boasts in the worldwide reputation and important influences, but also it is the most important event for classical music promotion in the UK. BBC National Orchestra of Wales is a regular performance group for the BBC Proms. Now "Roam about the Classics" invites the British music figure. The orchestra brings forth well-chosen concert repertoires from the performed works in previous BBC Proms concerts. This is a collection of famous composers’ classic works, which will bring about the origin pure on-site experience of the BBC Proms. At the same time, BBC Radio 3 (the BBC classical music radio channel) will be broadcast live on the concert.

Swiss conductor Thierry Fischer is Music Director of the Utah Symphony Orchestra. 2011/12 is also his sixth and final season as Principal Conductor of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales. Alongside his regular relationships, Fischer has guest-conducted orchestras such as the Philharmonia, Orchestre of the Age of Enlightenment, Czech Philharmonic, Orchestre National de Lyon, SWR Baden Baden, Berlin Konzerthausorchester and Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France; the Indianapolis, New Jersey and Colorado symphonies; the Malaysian Philharmonic and West Australian Symphony Orchestra in Perth, Australia.
