BRIEF INTRODUCTION

Orchestra of the Teatro Regio di Parma
The Orchestra of the Teatro Regio di Parma was founded in 1999 in collaboration with Parma Opera Ensemble (now Solisti del Teatro Regio di Parma), chamber music group specializing in the opera repertoire, well known in the international music scene, whose soloists now form the principal musicians of the orchestra.


It started in January 2000 as part of the Opera season, with the opera Lohengrin by Richard Wagner, gaining the praise from critics and public; in the same year partecipated in different productions like Dinorah by Meyerbeer, The Barber of Seville by Rossini and all the symphonies and overtures composed by Giuseppe Verdi for his works.


From 2002, the Orchestra is committed to all opera productions, concerts (symphonic and chamber music), in ballet and tours of the Teatro Regio di Parma and the Festival Verdi, addressing the great operatic, symphonic and sacred repertoire, under the guidance of some among the best conductors of the international music scene: Muti, Maazel, Temirkanov, Chung, Plasson, Palumbo, Guingal, Renzetti, Netopil, Korsten, Callegari, Reck, Luisotti, Koenigs.


The Orchestra of the Teatro Regio of Parma since 2005 has twice been invited to the W.A. Mozart International Festival at the Mart in Rovereto and achieved great success and enthusiastic acclaim. Every year on the 6th of September, the Orchestra of the Teatro Regio di Parma is invited by the city and the Teatro Comunale of Modena for concerts in rememberance of L. Pavarotti which were greatly appreciated.


Abroad, they enjoyed great success on tour in December 2001 with the choir of the Fondazione Arena di Verona for the Verdi centenary celebrations, in Annecy, at Bonlieu Scéne and at the Auditorium Nationale of Lyon; in July 2002 with Nabucco at the Arena of Nimes; in September 2003 in South Korea, with Aida at Jamshil Olympic Stadium and in September 2004 with Rossini's Stabat Mater in Marseille for the Festival de Musique à Saint Victor; in November 2005 in Mexico City with Rigoletto; in November 2006 in New Delhi and Bombay; in November 2007 in Bilbao with Aida and December 2007 in New Delhi; in March 2008 in Hong Kong with the opera Rigoletto; in 2009 a very successful the tour to Wiesbaden with Nabucco (May) and Beijing with Rigoletto (June). In 2010, the Orchestra has returned to Bilbao (Falstaff in May and Il Corsaro in November). The renewed collaboration with the Basque city for 2012 and 2013 has been confirmed.
