BRIEF INTRODUCTION
Original Chinese ballet Romeo and Juliet is made by the couple Li Ying and Pan Jiabin. They were promoted as principal dancers in National Ballet of China, who were the first to play Romeo and Juliet on in the history of Chinese ballet and are active in the forefront. Under the primary consideration of contemporary life and aesthetic taste, the new version Romeo and Juliet was combined traditional elements of Chinese culture and melt into Chinese classical aesthetic. Sometimes fan, umbrella and drama masks are tools of dance, sometimes are embellishment of choreography in their arrangement.
Different contemporary dance styles and rich dance vocabulary are combined with to fully present the characteristics of dancers and 'Speed Symphony' of composer Prokofiev's works. In the structure of Romeo and Juliet, they broke the traditional three-act structure, re-refined, and changed three acts into two acts, making dance miraculously performed by 25 actors and the performance time reduced to be 90 minutes.
The Stage lighting designer - HanJiang comes from National Ballet of China, he skillfully combines the art of Suzhou garden and his design is simple and brilliant. The costume designed by Suzhou Arts & Design Technology Institute, whose style of fashion and grace perfectly reflects the Chinese traditional charm. With their support, first cross-border Romeo and Juliet appeared on the Chinese ballet stage.
The design and operation of Romeo and Juliet meet Suzhou Cultural policy and the ballet will make a little contribution for the cultural construction in Suzhou. In modern society where money is the most important, original Chinese ballet Romeo and Juliet presents moving love story that will awake people to pursue true love.
On the basis of Prokofiev's original version, Romeo and Juliet has been added into Chinese elements, which is a fusion of the East and the West.
