Features: The TenThing Brass Ensemble are rapidly establishing themselves on the international scene, On May 15th, TenThing will perform in Concert Hall of NCPA as the Beijing May Festival 2012.

BRIEF INTRODUCTION

Formed in 2007 by Norwegian trumpeter Tine Thing Helseth, Tine and three trumpet playing friends were watching a string orchestra play and wanted to be able to recreate that level of ensemble playing, while exploring great repertoire, for a brass group. Looking to keep things interesting, and since the four trumpeters happened to all be girls, they decided to keep the group all female.

TenThing work very closely with Norwegian guitarist and arranger Jarle G. Storlokken who arranges all the groups music. Having such a close relationship enables the ensemble to play the music they want to play, no matter what the piece was originally composed for.

Since first forming, the group have performed all over their native Norway and delighted a huge audience by opening the 2011 Norwegian Grammy Awards. Elsewhere in Europe they have performed at the Rheingau and Bad Kissingen festivals in Germany, the Chester Festival in the UK and at La Foce in Tuscany.

Future plans for the ensemble include returns to Germany and the UK for festival performances in 2012 and a visit to the Beijing Festival in May 2012.

TenThing will release their debut disc on EMI Classics, featuring arrangements of works by Weill, Bizet, Grieg, Piazzolla, Albeniz and Mozart as well as original compositions by the Dutch composer Jan Koetsier it will be available in Scandanavia this Autumn and throughout the rest of Europe in Spring 2012.
